Hidden away in Provence in the Gros hamlet two kilometres from Gordes, Le Moulin des Sources is an old XVII century oil mill. In a peaceful and pretty environment in the heart of the Luberon regional park, Geneviève and Gérard are there to welcome you in a house full of character where the charm of old stone and contemporary decoration intermingle beautifully.
The Moulin des Sources is above all a peaceful and refined stopover for a romantic weekend or with family or friends. Like Genviève & Gérard fall for the charms of this mill where each room breathes serenity. Appreciate the warm atmosphere of the main lounge, the tranquillity of the library, the sobriety of the bedrooms and the colours of the garden wafting in scents of rosemary, lavender and thyme.
An enchanting place where both elegant living and simplicity radiate making for a memorable stay.
Discover the five rooms, all extremely comfortable, bright and tastefully decorated, all fully en suite. Each bedroom is named after a colour recalling the nearby cliffs of Roussillon and the palette dear to Cezanne and Van Gogh :
- The "Slate" room with contemporary furniture in muted shades of grey.
- The "Madder" room takes its name from a plant whose roots contain a colouring substance which becomes a magnificent red pigment when crushed.
- The "Celadon" suite is named after a Chinese ceramic whose pale blue green colour can be found in the provincial furniture of this old bread oven.
- The "Sienna" room is declined in earth like shades of brown. Facing east, it enjoys the sun’s first rays.
- The “Ochre” room : Its name comes from a natural yellow coloured pigment found in certain sand cliffs of undersea origin.
All are of the highest standard with toilet facilities and a bathroom fitted with a large shower or a bath, hair dryer, bath robes, towels for the swimming pool. The beds are top of the range and a safe is available. But, above all, their hushed atmosphere is an invitation to suspend time.
For the tranquillity of residents, rooms are not equipped with televisions.
Broadband internet access is available.
The quiet dinner in a restaurant in the surrounding area or Gerard´s warm welcome - The choice is yours !
For before dinner drinks your host will take you to his cellar, carved in the stone. In this cool haven, you can enjoy his delicious cocktails, a glass of champagne or taste local wines.
Then Gérard will serve you very tasty recipes using locally produced products, in the garden in the summer or in his vaulted kitchen in winter. Oriental bean salad, granité of fennel and peppers, cheese topped aubergines Italian style, chicken tajin with olives and crystallised lemons, rabbit with rosemary.
In the morning, enjoy a gourmet breakfast in the garden with Viennese pastries, fruit juice, yoghurt, fresh fruit, home made honey and jam.
Come and enjoy the swimming pool surrounded by olive trees sheltered from the wind, read under the arbour or just stroll in one of the small courtyards full of flowers. Gérard will advise about visits in the area and will suggest itineraries from the most scenic to the most sporty, walks through the ways lined with oak trees and lavender to cycling tours as far as Mont Ventoux.
The Moulin des Sources is situated in the heart of one of the most prestigious sites in Provence. Within a radius of 20 kilometres visit Avignon, its Papal Palace, its festivals, Sénanque and its abbey, Gordes, the island on the Sorgue and the antique dealers in Roussillon together with its ochre canyons, Lacoste, Bonnieux. A little further afield, lie Saint Remy, the Baux de Provence, the Alpilles...
The area offers lots of possibilities for those keen on sport : ascension of the Ventoux by bike, the mythical cliffs of Buoux for climbing enthusiasts, the courses of Pont Royal or of Provence golf clubs... Other activities are also on offer : canoeing on the Sorgue, horse riding, painting courses…
Gérard is always on hand to advise and help you organise your stay in line with your requirements.
